One of our favorite times at camp is Sing Time, where we
spend 30 minutes singing different songs. This is my favorite block because
of the techniques used in it. I wanted the background fabric to consist of
the words of some of our favorite songs we sing every year at camp. Finding
fabric with written words for the songs I wanted was in no way possible, so
I found a way to create my own.
Using a poster software program, I typed out the words of the songs, copied
and pasted them several times to create a poster that was 24" square (the
blocks are 20" square). Then I printed the poster on nine
printable fabric sheets, matched up the words and stitched the sheets
together to create my 25" square. After I had the block sheets stitched
together, I could add the applique wording in the center and the
applique photos. I was so pleased with the results. The background looks
just as I wanted it to look!
