  Join our Recycled Fabric Swap!!

Do you have fabric in your sewing room that you haven't used for a while? Maybe you no longer need it for the project you had planned or it has just lost its creativity in your eyes. Perhaps it doesn't blend with most of the other fabrics in your stash or you are tired of looking at it! You need to join our Recycled Fabric Swap!

Note: Prices for mailing packages below reflect the postage increase starting May 12th.

Participate in one or all of our exciting fabric swaps:

Fat Quarter Swap - Have lots of fat quarters in your sewing room that you are tired of seeing? Join the Fat Quarter Swap which is limited to 100% cotton fat quarters. This package will not include any yardage; it is for fat quarters only! This package of fabric will be mailed in a flat rate Priority Mail envelope which costs $4.80 to mail anywhere in the US and will hold 20-25 fat quarters which can be swapped.

Solids Swap - Needing to replace your stash of or get rid of solids, marbles, tone on tone fabrics or batiks? Join the Solids Swap which is limited to 100% cotton solids, marbles, tone on tones and batiks. This package of fabric will be mailed in a flat rate Priority Mail envelope which costs $4.80 to mail anywhere in the US and will hold 5-6 yards of fabric which can be swapped.

Smorgasbord Swap - A smorgasbord of fabric is exactly what you will receive in this swap! Any pieces of fabric that are 100% cotton can be included - prints, stripes, solids, batiks, florals, novelties, marbles, tone on tones, baby & kids!

There will be two smorgasbord mailings from which you can choose. One will be a flat rate Priority Mail envelope which costs $4.80 to mail anywhere in the US and will hold 5-6 yards of fabric which can be swapped. Another will be a flat rate Priority Mail box which costs $9.80 to mail anywhere in the US and will hold 18-20 yards of fabric which can be swapped.

International Swap - For those of you living outside the US, this is the swap for you! A smorgasbord of fabric is exactly what you will receive in this swap! Any pieces of fabric that are 100% cotton can be included - prints, stripes, solids, batiks, florals, novelties, marbles, tone on tones, baby & kids! This will be a flat rate Priority Mail International envelope which costs $9.95 to mail to Canada or $11.95 for other countries and will hold 5-6 yards of fabric which can be swapped.

Basic rules & guidelines:

The fabric must be 100% cotton, quilt shop quality fabric. It needs to be the full width of the fabric (except for the fat quarter swap) and can vary in length anywhere from 1/2 yard to 2 yards (for the box mailing, the pieces of fabric can be as large as 8 yards). Do not send pieces or leftover scraps; it needs to be the full width like you would purchase off the bolt. You may take out whatever fabric you would like as long as you put back in what you took out. If you would just like to add to the fabric pile, you may do so without removing any.

What you take out must match what you put in. For example if you took out 3 pieces with different lengths of 1/2 yd, 1 yd and 2 yds, you would need to put in a total yardage of 3 1/2 yds. This doesn't have to be in the same yardage per piece; it could be 2 pieces each measuring 1 1/2 yds. This is just an approximate; it does not have to be an exact measurement - it can vary a 1/4 yd taking out or putting in. For the fat quarter swap, however many fat quarters are removed must also be put in.

I will start the swap by mailing the fabric swap packages each containing a list of the participating members. You may keep the fabric packet for 3-4 days before passing it on to the next person on the list. Try not to keep it longer than a few days so we can keep it moving from one person to another. I would also ask you to email me when you send the package to the next person on the list. This allows me to keep track of where it has been and makes it easier to track if the package gets lost along the way.

Keep in mind that all the swaps are available to anyone in the US, except for the International swap which is available to anyone living outside the US. Please keep the fabric and enclosed info in the enclosed ziplock bag to protect it as it is being mailed from one person to the next.

If you would like to participate, you will need to email me your email address, mailing address and specify which swap you would like to join. Your information will not be shared with anyone except those who are participating in the swap and will only be used to send the fabric packet from person to person.

The deadline to participate in the Recycled Fabric Swap Second Edition is May 30, 2008. You must email me by this date if you would like to be included. I will be mailing the fabric packets out June 2, 2008. I will email you to inform you when the packet is mailed and where you are on the list to receive it.

I am excited to start another swap and see what treasures we can pass around! So email me to sign up and join in on the fun in another Recycled Fabric Swap! If you have any questions or comments, just drop me an email.

If you know of someone who would like to join in, pass along the information and have them email me their info and I will add them to the list. If you have a blog or website and would like to pass the word, you may use the button above and link back to this page for the full guidelines and information. The more people, the more fun we can have passing around fabric from all over the country! :)
